History

Good Samaritan Baptist Church began as a Mission Church in the New Tazewell Mobile Home Park by Robert Hilliker and his family, Jim McMurray, Richard Minton, Earl and Brenda Ingle, Jeff Lewis, Swan Whitaker, David Archer and Clayton Dunsmore. The mobile home park donated a 12' X 50' mobile home located on lot 175. Much repair work was done to the mobile home to get it in condition to be used.

The first meeting was a singing held on April 15, 2005 with 57 people in attendance. Regular meetings began on Tuesday April 19, 2005 and have continued each Tuesday night thereafter. The number of people who attend averages about 40.

Sunday Services began on September 25, 2005. The church gives 7 percent of their offerings to the Cooperative Program and 3 percent to Cumberland Gap Baptist Association. Fairview Baptist Church served as the sponsoring church.
